To date we have completed 89 walks and clocked up a total of over 250 miles.
We meet every Monday at 10.30am using our Whats App Chat Group to share information and photos. Anyone is welcome.
Rotary Ramblers was formed in the aftermath of Lockdown when we were confined to our homes, we were unable to meet friends and family for so long as well as being unable to resume face to face Rotary meetings and we all suffered from lack of exercise and social interaction.
Although initially intended for our own members, we have been accompanied by other Rotary members from other clubs, husbands, wives, friends, family, neighbours and dogs and gained lots of new friends along the way.
From week to week we decide on the next location which could be parks, forests, moors, open countryside or beaches. Often, we are in places that evoke memories and from time to time we revisit favourites to introduce them to new members who may be new to the area or just to enjoy once again.
There is always something to see, hear or learn. We have caught glimpses of herons, kingfishers, dippers, deer or squirrels. We have heard woodpeckers, pheasants or the sound of the rivers or sea. We have visited Castles, caves, historic monuments and memorials and often meet dog walkers or fellow ramblers.
Although we benefit from the fresh air and exercise, the friendship and sense of achievement contributes greatly to our wellbeing as well as expanding our knowledge.
